chaps 6-10

Somaly was being watched over by a friend name pierre , she was basically brought out of the brothels and she no longer had to go back there. Life was really looking up for her. when she did recieve money from her friend she would send it her family. One time, she took the money and decided to buy school supplies for her father and mother which would help them out alot, but when she went to go visit instead of being overwhlemed with joy she was stricken by sadness on how her family turned out, but she was always there to help her family and did what she could do for them, even brought food for them. Somaly didnt have lover for her friend Pierre but he loved her alot, so she decided to move in with him. They started to run outta money so the opened up a resturant that was mostly directed to rich people. Somaly served as a waitress, that way she learned more french. Due to political problems going on in cambodia, they felt it was best to shut down the resturant and move to france and Pierre wanted somaly to come with him which meant they had to get married in order for somaly to get a visa. Somaly didn't want to go to france and she didnt want to get married, to her it was a way for men to own a women, she looked at it like prision. Eventually, she decided to go and to marry pierre. They had to live with pierre's mom until they had enough money to get their own place, Somaly ended up getting a job working at a hotel as a cleaning women, and she also worked at a Chinese place. she didnt have to work but she did it cause she believes shes not good at doing nothing. Pierre wanted to go back to Cambodia to work with doctors with out borders so they left to go back to Cambodia and Somaly ended up working with doctors with out borders as well which resulted in her helping local girls in brothels. She helped give them medical treatment, passed out condoms and soap at the brothels and she even paid for some girls to go and learn how to be seamstress, but this didn't mean they were paid outta the brothels, this only gave them a back up plan if the girls did decide to escape. Everything was going well for somaly, she became known as Khmers De France, which got her more respect from locals, and people in her old village. Somaly really loved what she was doing for the girls, that she decided to make an organization that focused on helping them. With the help from her husband and his friends, she figured it will be possible. Somaly also became pregnant, but she wasn't happy about the idea of having a baby. She knew nothing about being a mother and she felt it was a bad idea, but pierre thought other wise, they ended up moving to another town. oddly, there house ended up being next to a brothel, in away kind of a good thing for somaly. Somaly was finally happy, and for all the years she spent with pierre ,he only hit her once. She really felt she was starting a new life.

Chapters 3-6

Somaly goes to visit her grandmother ( the mother of her mother),When she is there she learns about the brother which in a way is the sex trade except it is where they keep the girls, provides a place for the action to take place. The girls are usally paid between 5o to 100 dollers sometimes less. at the time somaly was about 14 or 15 and her grandfather gave her to a solider name than, but she called him pou which meant uncle. Like before, her grandfather owed the man money so in exchange , she was to marry him to make up for his debt. its sad that her wedding wasnt of her dreams or even a true wedding at all. it was just a preist saying they are married. During this time, somaly got her first job, as a nurse. she helped clean up dead bodies that have been blown up by land mines. she recieved her first period, and she believed leeches was the causes of it, now that she recieved her period that means when getting raped she risked the chances of getting pregnant. at her age kids believed just by holding a guys hand would result in getting pregnant. despite all the bad, somalys sister was getting married, and she picked somaly to be a brides maid and for the first tiime she really felt her sister loved her and accepted her into the family. Unfortunatyly, somalys grandfather shows up and basically puts her into the brothel her aunts owned. first few months were horrible for her because she didnt want to listen or follow the rules, so the mean would seriously beat her. somaly falls for a guy, but her judgment was wrong once again, instead of him loving her, he sells her and that expiernce made her realize that she is better off in the brothel. She evetually gained ther aunts trust, and she started helping the other girls in the brothel. She started seeing that girls were being killed by the clients even one of her friend, died by being shot. and all the people did was dump there dead bodys in a rice stack. Her grandfather died during this year, but it didnt changed how much she hated him. SOmaly promised her self that from now on she will find her self a rich man .And surly  her wish of meeting a rich man came true.

human traff. reading article

Its understandable and common that the children of a household wants to be able to take part in helping their family, but its unfair and cruel that people ( men) in south east asia use that against families. it was sad to read the article because i know that if i was in the position i would have done what ever i could to do , in order to help my parents. The people who take part in human trafficing promise a large amount to the families, but who is to say they will actually recieve the money. Cambodia is a ocuntry known for human traficing yet the sex trade is only getting bigger. It is disgusting that the men are so stupid to think that having adis and then having sex with a virgin will cure them, if only they actually stop thinking with their penis they would realize they are only spreading the diease. these men are by far the nastiest of them all and to be able to be ok with what they are doing serves them right when karma comes around and give them aids or is killed by one of the girls.
The united states likes to interfer with other forgein affairs and go to war over bullshit we have little to no concern for bur the things such as human trafficing , the U.S hardly lends a helping hand. Instead the goverment is leaving it to small orginizations to help with this problem. Once human trafficiing becomes apart of the U.S society , only then will people truly begin to panic and take action. but by then it will be to late.
