Chapter 1: The Forest: - This chapter is based on Samalys childhood before she was sent into sex slavery. As a child, Samaly wasnt raised with a typical family instead she was raised with her grandmother but , her grandmother randomly left her with out an explanition. Samaly family was from a tribe call the khmer but she was raised with the Phong tirbe which she fits more in with because of her dark skin. Somaly had a family who watched over her, but once day the man of the house old gave her away to a man . at first she believed it was for the best, that by going with the man her life will become better, so told her self that the man was her grandfather and he was going to lover her. That all changed once she saw his anger, which resulted in him slapping her in the face, by then she knew that going with this man was by far a good thing, but it was to late to turn back.
Chapter 2:- she arrives in a village where she will stay with her granfather. Many of times he would beat her, especially when he was drunk and angry. he blamed her for his misfortune,so she had to work for the alot of the villagers in order to make money for him. She then meets a school teacher, that becomes like a father to her, he clamied that he was her biological unles. She even started started attending school and ranked second in her class. At first the classmates hated her but once she was picked for a dance, her classmates begin to like her. Her uncles family became like a true family to her and this is where she got the name Somaly mom. Eventhough she spent most of her time at her uncles, or at school she still had to make time to make money for her grandfather. he had so many debts with people, that once debt he payed off by having her raped by a local merchant,even after that inncident he was still a jerk to her. Men belived that having sex with a virgin will keep you strong, Living with her grandfather bestowed strength and fear, she learned how to neutrilize her emotions no matter what.
